The customers are kvelling! Here’s what they have to say:
I love Carol’s humorous commentary on life and brilliantly simple illustrations. I keep several cards on hand to send at just the right moment, knowing they will brighten someone’s day.
– Jean M, Sebastopol CA
Carol’s wonderful greeting cards make me laugh and then go ‘hmmm…’ every time I pick one up. One or two take a moment of thinking – to ‘get’ – making them all the more fun – sometimes in the same way that we all like sharing an ‘inside joke’. Our retail and wholesale customers love her cards!
- Joel Rigler, JewishCard
Tuba Loons cards are a staple at Afikomen: they add a spark to our card line. It’s sure a kick when our customers laugh out loud to a particular design.
- Sue Levy, Afikomen
The artistic matchboxes have been very well received from our new tenants as a welcoming gift – they love them! The matchboxes are personalized, creative, colorful and demonstrates an added touch to the greeting of each new tenant to their new home.
- Heidi Chartier, Yale Management Services
My family and I had been buying Tuba Loons cards for years. It was so delightful to finally meet the creator of these little gems of humor and wisdom.
- Arline T, Sebastopol CA
In our gallery, Tuba Loons cards are a real show stopper. People don’t laugh, they howl. Then after they read ‘em, they buy ‘em!
- Raynetta James, Quicksilver Mine Co.
I am a female Jewish baby boomer from LA, living in a predominantly “goyish” village in Northern California. I walk into my favorite store on Main Street when my eyes settle onto a concrete manifestation of my roots – Jewish humor in the form of a greeting card. I look on the back of the card and I see Tuba Loons – Sebastopol. There is a woman like myself lurking in this town – I AM NOT ALONE.
I continue to read every card to feel the connection and laugh out loud –-very loud – not caring if anyone sees me as a person who skipped her morning dose. I buy six cards and hide them in a drawer closest to my work desk. Over a year’s time I have sent them to various Jewish friends, who have reported the same joy upon reading them. I applaud Carol Vanek with her talent at visual gags; but most importantly, I applaud her chutzpah!
